Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention

Students will be needed most in the summers. This agency goes into community centers and the Boys and Girls club and does educational programs.  A background check is required.

All Saints Interfaith Center of Concern (Sr. Mary Roy)

Office assistance is needed with keeping floor, stocking shelves, maintenance, etc. Due to the hours of operation, much of the work will have to be done in the summer or during school holidays.

American Red Cross

Students may serve on committees, participate in disaster relief teams, assist with paperwork and records, work with elderly, assist with fundraisers, assist with blood drives, etc.

Animal Shelter

Student volunteers are needed for assistance with animals, building maintenance, etc.

Association for Retarded Citizens

Student volunteers are needed for events such as the annual Tootsie Roll Drive in October, and the Special Olympics in April. Other assistance is also needed.

Autumn Cove (Assisted Living)

Students can assist with the Pampered Hands project (painting nails, etc.), games, arts and crafts, etc. Orientation is needed .

Beckwood Manor

Volunteers are needed to visit with patients, paint women’s fingernails, play games, color, and work on puzzles.

Boys and Girls Club

Students may work after school (until 7:30pm) and assist other students sports, tutoring, computer lab, arts, games, etc. Summer programs are also available. The Boys and Girls Club has locations in Anniston, Jacksonville, and Talladega. More information can be found at www.bgcecal.com.

Equestrian Center

Students would be assisting with care and maintenance of horses used for the deaf and blind students in Talladega.

Family Service Center

Volunteers are needed in areas such as: assistance with files, supervised playroom, painting, etc. Students should call at least 1 month in advance.

Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center

This agency has an annual yard sale in November that requires extra help. Other projects are available throughout the year.

This agency puts on summer day camps for inner-city students. Assistance may be needed preparing for camps and with the camps themselves.

            Volunteers are needed to help with activities such as games, arts and crafts, etc.

NHC Place (Assisted Living)

Assistance is needed with activities and games with the elderly population. Assisting residence with daily tasks may also be needed.

Assistance is needed with yard work, maintaining and building trails, painting, filing, computer lab, etc. Rainbow Omega is located in Eastabooga.

Students may work in the food pantry or on the Christmas booklet. Some projects require an adult supervisor.

2nd Chance

Student volunteers are needed anytime, however there are annual projects scheduled in October and December that need extra help. Projects include: task force meetings, garden maintenance, maintenance at the center (painting, remodeling rooms, etc.), thrift store assistance, outreach and vigil coordinating (especially in October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month), working the Oxfordfest booth, etc.
